These are one-hour shows, one each for Kathakali – a classical dance-drama, and Kalarippayattu – a traditional martial art form. You can also watch the artists putting up the makeup, getting ready and preparing for their performance.

4. Mattupetty Dam – Mattupetty Dam and the adjoining lake is another popular tourist spot in the town. It is 18 km away from Nyayamkadu Waterfalls. The lake, surrounded by green mountain slopes, offers a picturesque opportunity for boating. Several paddleboats and speedboats are available for hire. It is also an important source of water for birds and animals. You can spot elephants drinking water on far sides of the lake.

5. Echo Point – Echo Point is a scenic spot, about 7 km ahead of Mattupetty Dam. The place is situated by a lake and it is surrounded by three mountains. Nyayamkad Waterfalls is on the way to Anamudi Peak, the highest peak in Southern India. It is about 7 km away from Munnar, and you can take a bus to reach the place. You can also book a cab from top car rental companies in Munnar to reach the waterfalls.

By Road – The scenic town of Munnar is connected to its neighbouring towns by road. Regular buses run from the places nearby and other major cities of the country like Coimbatore (150 km), Kochi (120 km), and Madurai (170 km). Nyayamkadu Waterfalls is about 10 km away from Munnar bus stop. You can also hire a cab to reach Munnar.

By Rail – Munnar doesn’t have a railway station, but you can get to Aluva by train. It is the nearest station to Munnar, about 120 km away. And from there, you can take a bus or cab to reach Munnar. Regular trains run between Aluva and other nearby towns in the area. Coimbatore (150 km), Ernakulam (120 km), and Madurai (170 km) also are in proximity to Munnar with a better nation-wide railway network.

By Air – The nearest airport to Munnar is Cochin International Airport, about 120 km away. It has daily flights from various airports in the country and abroad. You can also take a flight to Coimbatore or Madurai airport and then get on a bus to Munnar. Private cabs are also available.
